The Committee on the Organizing of the Royal Cremation Ceremony recently held a meeting at Santi Maitri Building, Government House. The meeting was also attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who serves as advisor to the Royal Cremation Ceremony.

The meeting acknowledged a draft schedule for the Royal Cremation Ceremony. The exact dates for the ceremony will be considered and approved later by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun.

 

The process of the Royal Cremation of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej will last five days. On the first day, a royal merit-making ceremony will be held in preparation for moving the royal urn to the Royal Crematorium. It will take place at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace.

 

On the second day, the Royal Cremation Ceremony will take place at the Royal Crematorium, located at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground. The collection of royal relics will take place on the third day at the Royal Crematorium.

 

On the fourth day, a merit-making ceremony will be held for the royal relics at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall. On the fifth day, there will be a ceremony to offer food to monks at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall and the royal relics will be enshrined at the Heavenly Abode in Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall.

 

In the Royal Cremation Ceremony, the procession of honor will be arranged into six processions. Cultural performances will also be held at Sanam Luang as part of the Royal cremation Ceremony. The performances include the khon masked drama, nang yai shadow play, lakhon dance drama, hun marionettes, and Western music.

 

There will be an exhibition after the Royal Cremation Ceremony, featuring arts and culture regarding the Royal Crematorium and related structures. The exhibition will last 30 days.
